Erie County
Criminal Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Erie County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks a full-time attorney to fill a Criminal Assistant Prosecuting Attorney position.  The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the following:


  • Conducts research of evidence and law to analyze cases and render legal opinions;
  • Determines, reviews, and evaluates proper charges;
  • Prepares and files motions, memoranda, and briefs;
  • Conducts consultations with defense attorneys to reach settlement or plea negotiations;
  • Organizes evidence and testimony from interviews with witnesses in preparation for trial;
  • Presents evidence and witnesses at trial and participation in sentencing hearings;
  • Completes forms, handles correspondence and prepares and maintains records and reports;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS: (At time of filling out application)

  • Knowledge of Ohio Criminal Law and Procedure;
  • Jury trial experience;
  • Familiarity with police procedure and investigative techniques;
  • effective oral communication and advocacy skills;
  • legal research and writing skills;
  • Juris Doctorate degree and admitted member of the Ohio Bar and in good standing.
  • FIVE YEARS OF TRIAL AND/OR CRIMINAL PROSECUTION EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED with any combination of training and/or work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above.  An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:

J D or L L B and admission to the Ohio Bar.
Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Knox County
Civil Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Knox County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks a full-time attorney to fill a civil assistant prosecuting attorney position. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for representing Knox County boards, commissions, officials, officers, and employees in civil matters, including but not limited to litigation and transactional matters to include:
• Represent and advise the County, its elected officials and its various departments, agencies, boards and commissions of Knox County;
• Handle select civil litigation in which the County has an interest, including tort, and contract disputes, as well as civil rights litigation and employment litigation;
• Provide legal advice to County officials, boards and commissions on all legal matters affecting county government, including general legal compliance, labor and employment matters, land acquisition and sales, contract negotiation;
• Represent county officials, county agencies, and county employees in specialized litigation;
• Advise and represent boards of township trustees on wide variety of matters, including land use and zoning matters; and
• Perform all other duties assigned, delegated or required of the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, as well as those prescribed by law.

• Must be available to meet and work outside the normal working hours for trial preparation;
• Preferred experience representing local governments;
• Preferred two (2) years of experience in civil litigation;
• Must possess excellent research and writing skills and requisite understanding of relevant law and regulations;
• Must possess qualities of fairness, a strong work ethic, have the highest integrity; and must also maintain the confidentiality of law enforcement and investigatory records and other confidential information; and
• Conduct business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines, the Ohio Revised Code, and the Ohio Administrative Code.

Juris Doctorate; licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Ohio.

Montgomery County
The Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney will accept applications for
the position of Assistant Prosecuting Attorney until 4:30 p.m. on Monday,
October 1, 2018
. Depending on experience and qualifications, successful
applicants will be placed in the Appellate, Civil, Criminal, or Juvenile Division.
The Appellate Division is responsible for preparing and arguing appeals of
criminal and juvenile cases in which our county or the State of Ohio is involved.
The Civil Division’s main function is to provide legal counsel and representation
to elected officials, including all county elected officials, judges, and township
trustees. The Criminal Division is responsible for prosecuting felony cases that
occur in our county. The Juvenile Division handles cases against offenders
under the age of 18, cases against adults who abuse or neglect children, and
intervenes to protect, and in some cases remove, abused and neglected children
from dangerous environments. Candidates should possess a strong academic
record, good writing and oral communication skills, and either be a member of
the Ohio Bar or have taken the July Bar Exam in Ohio. This position is full time;
no private practice is allowed. Minimum starting salary is $52,500.00 with full
